CHURCH
HISTORY

In the early 1930’s relatives and friends who had relocated to Lexington, NC began to gather for worship. They wanted to deepen the lives of others in their faith by teaching Christian and moral values through words and deeds. Following a call to commitment and support, these individuals began to meet, organize, and build Friendship Baptist Church on November 2, 1941. The church, a white clapboard frame structure was built on one acre of land on the east side of Pugh Street in Lexington, NC and was completed in February 1942.  The Reverend Thomas Leverett was installed as the first pastor.
